Richard D. "Dick" Kennedy, Sr. age 80 of
, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Grove City, Pennsylvania, died
July 5, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born February 28, 1930 in Butler,
Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Floyd B. Kennedy and Grace
Wise Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy was a former member of
Grace at Calvary of Butler, Pennsylvania and a member of East Main
Presbyterian Church in Grove City, Pennsylvania. He was a salesman
for Good Brothers Tire in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, retiring in
1998. Mr. Kennedy was a member of The Butler Notables, Penn-Ohio
Barbershop Groups and also the Southern Gentleman in New Bern, North
Carolina. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Korean
War. Mr. Kennedy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Butler High
School graduate in 1948.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by four sons,
Rick and his wife Donna Kennedy of Butler, Pennsylvania, Tom and his
wife Sue Kennedy of Butler, Pennsylvania, John and his wife Shelley
Kennedy of Valencia, Pennsylvania, and Stephen and his wife, Connie
Kennedy of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Cindy and her
husband Ron Marowitz of St. Cloud, Florida; thirteen grandchildren,
twelve great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Jeanne and her
husband Dennis Baloaing of New Bern, North Carolina; one step-son,
John Perrine; four step-grandchildren, one brother, Donald and his
wife Evie Kennedy of Butler, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Ellen and
her husband Guy Hively of Columbia City, Indiana, Martha and her
husband Sam Bowser of Columbia City, Indiana and by a number of
nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by
his first wife, Helen L. Kennedy who passed away March 24, 1995, and
by his second wife, Patricia L. Kennedy who passed away September
21, 2009.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
with Mr. Dennis Hindman of Rider Lutheran Church. Interment will
follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations
may be made to East Main Presbyterian, 120 East Main Street, Grove
City, Pennsylvania 16127.
Officers and members of the American
Legion Post #778 and V.F.W. Post #249 will conduct graveside
