Thomas P. Keown, Sr.

August 19, 1925 ~ November 14, 2009

Thomas P. Keown, Sr, age 84, of Butler, died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 7:55 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born August 19, 1925 in Butler, he was the son of the late Ira Keown and Katherine Pringle Keown.

Mr. Keown was a welder for Pullman Standard for 38 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 778 of Lyndora and the VFW Post # 778 of Butler. He was a Protestant by faith.

Mr. Keown is survived by his wife, Lorraine B. Keown whom he married on April 2, 1948; two daughters, Pamela Salopek and Kandice Ihlenfeld, and one son, Thomas Keown, Jr., all of Butler. Also surviving are five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Lucille Keys of Greenbelt, Maryland. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Keown was preceded in death by one sister.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Chris Easton of Church of the Nazarene of Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park, where officers and members of the VFW # 249 and American Legion # 778 will conduct military honors.
