William D. Plaisted, age
78, of Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony, Pennsylvania, formerly of
Saxonburg, Pennsylvania died Friday, January 15, 2010 at 9:50 p.m in
the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born January 31, 1931 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the
late Roy C. Plaisted and Anna Stewart Plaisted.
Mr. Plaisted was a Brick Mason. He
retired as a custodian from the Community Alliance Church. He was a
member of the Brick Layer's Union #17. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army serving in the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart as well
as the Korean Service Ribbon. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed
painting on canvas and he loved singing praises to his Lord.
Mr. Plaisted is survived by three
daughters, Brenda G. Thompson and her husband, Paul, of Chicora,
Pennsylvania; Karen L. Thomas and her husband, David, of
Portersville, Pennsylvania; and Linda S. Plaisted and her husband,
Mark Spotts, of Clarksburg, Maryland; by one son, Jeffrey M.
Plaisted of Fort Mill, South Carolina; ten grandchildren, five great
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Plaisted was preceded in death by
his wife, Patricia Ann Plaisted, who was deceased November 28, 2002
and by his two brothers and seven sisters.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania, on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m.
Services will be held at the
Community Alliance Church on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:00 A.M.
with Reverend Ted Harris of Community Alliance Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
