Betty R. Shidemantle, age 90, formerly
of West Penn Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, March 11,
2010 at 11:15 p.m. in the Cranberry Place, Cranberry Township,
Pennsylvania. Born March 20,
1919 in Koppel, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late
Thomas C. Rylott and the late Mary Estelle Smith Rylott.
Mrs. Shidemantle was the former
owner/operator of Betty's Beauty Shop on West Penn Street, Butler.
Mrs. Shidemantle was a member of St. Andrews United Presbyterian
Church in Butler. She was very active in her church, where she
served as a Deacon and sang in the church choir. She was also a
strong supporter to parents with children in sports. She also
enjoyed baking and cooking.
Mrs. Shidemantle is survived by two
daughters, Rev. Mary Grey and her husband, John Emmett of Prospect,
Pennsylvania, S. Beth and her husband, Steve Himebauch of Bonita
Springs, Florida; four sons, Thomas D. Shidemantle of Staten Island,
New York, David R. and his wife, Kathy Shidemantle of Harmony,
Pennsylvania, Rev. Peter Shidemantle and his wife, Rev. Karen Dimon
of Syracuse, New York, and Dale P. Jr. and his wife, LuAnn
Shidemantle of Erie, Pennsylvania; twelve grandchildren and eleven
great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews; and one sister,
Mrs. Jean Allcorn of East Palestine, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Dale P. Shidemantle, who passed
away August 9, 1989, and by eleven brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Monday, March 15, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
A memorial service for Mrs.
Shidemantle will be held at St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church
201 East Jefferson Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Tuesday,
March 16 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Merry H. Meloy of St. Andrews United
Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in Bear Creek
Cemetery in Petrolia, Pennsylvania.
