Nancy Huth Thompson, age 75 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday,
February 7, 2010 at 12:32 p.m. in the West Penn Hospital in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born July 7, 1934 in Butler, she was the
daughter of Joseph Francis Huth and Hazel Grace Mellinger.
Mrs. Thompson had worked for Butler Savings and Trust, Friendship
Federal, and Landmark Savings, which later became Citizens National
Bank, holding several different management positions. She retired on
June 30, 1996 as Manager at the Main Street Branch of Citizens
National Bank. She was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Thompson was treasurer on the Board of Directors of Butler
County Jr. Miss for 33 years. She also was on the boards of the
Salvation Army and the YWCA. In her early years she was a Sunday
school teacher and later a former member of the Board of Deacons at
her church. She was a member of the Maqueda Chapter #421 Order of
the Eastern Star, the Hill Church 100th anniversary committee, a
member of GFWC Intermediate League of Butler. Mrs. Thompson was a
graduate of Butler High School Class of 1952.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by one brother, Joseph Huth, II and his
wife Joann of Butler, Pennsylvania; one sister, Margaret Meeker and
her husband, Doug, of Powell, Ohio; two step-sons Robert C. Thompson
and his wife Kelli of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Todd A. Thompson and
his wife Linda of Bloomington, Indiana; two granddaughters, Erin
Deviny and her husband Mark, of Lighthouse Point, Florida, and
Alexandra D. Thompson of Butler, Pennsylvania; four grandsons,
Spencer Thompson of Butler, Pennsylvania, Quintin C. Thompson of
Bloomington, Indiana, Adrian J. Thompson of Bloomington, Indiana,
Ian R. Thompson of Butler, Pennsylvania, and one niece, two nephews
and several great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W.
Thompson whom she married on May 2, 1970 and who passed away on June
3, 2008.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home,
Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday,
February 11, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Hill United Presbyterian Church on
Friday, February 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Clark Sawyer
of Hill United Presbyterian Church and Reverend John Porter of
Meridian United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will
follow in North Side Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hill
