Nellie L. Thompson, age 89, formerly of
East Butler, Pennsylvaia, died on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 1:00
a.m. at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.
Born Tarentum, Pennsylvania, she was the
daughter of the late Patrick M. Barry and Leona P. Lawther Barry.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of First
Baptist Church of Butler, where she was a member of the Berean
Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Butler County
Historical Society. Nellie was an avid quilter, making many
beautiful quilts through the years. Mrs. Thompson was always ready
to serve hospitality when she was needed in church or at her home.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by two
daughters, Joann and her husband, Robert Dittmer, and Linda and her
husband, Chrils Wilker; two sons, Raymond E. and his wife, Patricia
Thompson, and Harvey A. and his wife, Pearl Thompson; all of Butler.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great
grandchildren, and several neices and nephews.
Mrs.Thompson was preceded in death by
her husband, Robert E. Thompson, who passed away April 18, 2001, one
granddaughter, one sister, and one brother.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson
- Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 11:00
A.M. with Reverend David Maitland of First Baptist Church
officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
