Beatrice Joan "Jo" Barger Towns

Beatrice Joan "Jo" Barger Towns of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 8:55 a.m in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in North Washington, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Dean Rea and LaVerne Anderson Rea.

Mrs. Towns was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. In her lifetime, she was a Trustee, a Sunday School Teacher, and a Bible School Teacher. Mrs. Towns was a Bookkeeper for Milo Williams Jewelers in Butler, Pennsylvania where she retired in 1996.

Mrs. Towns is survived by her husband, John W. Towns, Jr., whom she married on November 6, 1999, three daughters, Deborah and her husband David Fiscus of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Jan and her husband Bob Parsons of Bethany Beach, Delaware, Amy and her husband Gary Fields of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, one brother, Jim Rea of Herman, Pennsylvania; two step-sons, John W., III, and his wife Melissa Towns of Westminster, Maryland, and Duane and his wife Marty Towns of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; seven step grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Towns was preceded in death by her sister Revah Rea Tack who passed away in August, 1986, and also by her first husband of 43 years, Meredith "Salty" Barger who passed away July 15, 1991.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday February 21, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Dr. James Swanson of Covenant Presbyterian Church officiating. Private Internment will follow in Bear Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Greater Pittsburgh, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15205.
