George R. "Brud" Vogus,
age 80, of 535 Sunset Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday,
December 13, 2009 at 6:26 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born November 6, 1929 in Clinton
Township, Venango County, he was the son of the late George H. Vogus
and Clara (Dillon) Vogus.
Mr. Vogus was a bricklayer for 42
years, belonging to the Local #9, International Union of Bricklayers
& Allied Craftworkers. He retired in 1989. He was a member of Faith
United Presbyterian Church, and he belonged to the Prime Timers of
the church. Mr. Vogus enjoyed attending all of the grandchildren's
programs, games, and concerts; spending time with family and helping
with family projects; and he enjoyed spending time at camp and
hunting. Mr. Vogus was a Sergeant in the United States Army, 1st
Calvary Division, serving in Korea and Japan during the Korean
Conflict.
Mr. Vogus is survived by his wife,
Grace O. Vogus, whom he married on July 2, 1951, one son, Scott D.
Vogus and his wife, Lorraine (Vargo) of Cabot, one daughter,
Victoria L. Pacey and her husband, Lawrence W. of Valencia; six
grandchildren, Nicole L. Vogus, Douglas R. Vogus,and Jillian R.
Vogus, Claire E. Pacey, Philip W. Pacey, and Caroline G. Pacey, all
at home; one sister, Mary V. Hoffman of Columbus, Ohio; and four
nieces and four nephews.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. and
Friday, December 18, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc.
on Saturday, December 19 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Ray Eichler of
Faith United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow
in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be
made to Faith United Presbyterian Church 1329 North Main Street,
Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.
