George R. "Dick" Wright

George R. "Dick" Wright, age 86, of Evans City, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. in the U.P.M.C. Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Born December 8, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late George H. Wright and Ethel G. Sloan Wright.

Mr. Wright served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He attended Westminster College, Drexel School of Engineering; and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering. Mr. Wright was professional civil engineer and he was passionate about his work. He was the owner of Wright Engineering Services, LLC. in Evans City. He was a generous and benevolent person; he served as President of the Board of Directors of St. John Special Care in Mars, the Board of Directors at The Pittsburgh Project, and the Board of Directors at Mars Housing. Mr. Wright was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Mr. Wright was a member of First English Lutheran Church of Butler.

Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Broderick Wright, whom he married on January 9, 1954; two sons, Richard Michael Wright of Indiana, Pennsylvania and David Martin Wright, at home; and by one daughter, Tricia, and her husband, Jack Voelzke, of Evans City. Also surviving him are two granddaughters, Katie Wright and Melissa Wright.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the First English Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend James W. Dollhopf of First English Lutheran Church and Reverend Randal Gullickson of Lutherlyn officiating.
