Our Staff 

Richard J. Miller, President and Supervisor of Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., became affiliated with the Thompson Funeral Home in 1958 after he married Gloria Thompson Miller on June 25, 1955.He was honored by his Father-in-Law, R. Glenn Thompson, to become a partner in the Thompson Funeral Home in 1963 and the name was then changed to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home. 

He is a Butler native and has lived in Butler all his life. He is a graduate of Butler High School class of 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1950-1954 and was stationed in Japan and England. Richard is a graduate of Grove City College, class of 1958 and a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He became a licensed funeral director in 1960. 

Richard is a member of many organizations and he has been active in them for many years. He is a member and Past President of Butler Rotary Club since 1960, member and Past President of Butler Area Chamber of Commerce, member of Butler Corps. Salvation Army Advisory Board and served as Chairman from 1974-1978. He is a member of the Butler Country Club. In addition, he was Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Butler Memorial Hospital Authority Board during its renovation in the mid 90's.

He also continues to be a member of numerous Masonic organizations including the Butler Masonic Lodge 272 F&AM, Butler Royal Arch Chapter #273, Lorraine Commandry No.87 Knights Templer, Butler Council #61, Royal and Select Master Masons, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of New Castle, life member of Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, Syria Carvan No.14 of Butler and the Shrine Luncheon Club of Butler.

Richard is a member of these professional funeral organizations: Member and Past President of Butler County Funeral Director's Association, Pennsylvania Funeral Director's Association and the National Funeral Director's Association.

He was formerly a board member of the Butler County Unit of American Cancer Society and served as Vice-Chairman of Cancer Crusade Fund Drive in 1970 and was Chairman of the Crusade Fund Drive in 1971. He served as a board member of the Butler County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

He is blessed with three children: Barbara L. Miller, Glenn Thompson Miller and Robin S. Miller.

Glenn T. Miller, a graduate of Butler County Community College, Slippery Rock University and Pittsburgh Mortuary Institute of Mortuary Science, joined Thompson-Miller Funeral Home staff in 1992. He is our third generation funeral director named for our founder, R. Glenn Thompson. He is currently serving as treasurer and office manager.

Glenn is a member of many organizations Butler County. He is active with the Butler County Community College and he is on the board of Trustees, he is chairman of the Alumni Association, the Renovation Sub Committee and the Facilities Committee. Glenn is a board member of the United Way of Butler County, and a board member of the North Side Cemetery Association and a member of the Downtown Butler Association in which he was honored for organizing and managing "Christmas in the City". He also is a member of the Butler County Fire Chief's Association, Past President of Butler Township Fire Chief's Association, life member, past president and current treasurer of the Mercer Road Volunteer Fire Company in which he was recognized as "Fireman of the Year" for three years.

He affiliates with the Sons of The American Revolution, the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle, the Butler Lodge #272 Free and Accepted Masons, the Miller Lodge #769 Free and Accepted Masons, the caravan 14 of Butler, the Lorraine Commandery #87 Knights Temple, the Lorraine Chapter Order of Demolay, Legion of Honor, Butler Shrine Luncheon Club, Butler Council #61 Royal and Select Master Masons, and the Butler Chapter #273 Royal Arch Masons.

Glenn is a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church in Butler where he served as former Chairman of Endowments and is currently serving on the Session. He was a former member of the Butler A.M. Rotary Club and of the Butler Area Street Machine Association.

Glenn is married to Leslie Ann Anderson Miller R.N. They were married on September 11, 1998.

Glenn is recognized for his beautiful wedding photography and he has been enjoying this for the past 22 years.

Robin S. Miller is the daughter of Richard and Gloria Miller, third generation to be involved in the family business. She acquired a Bachelor's Degree from Geneva College in Elementary Education in 1987 and she then taught school for several years. 

Robin is our Grief Specialist and Educator and she is a member of the Association for Death Education and Counseling. Through Colorado State University and The Center for Loss and Life Transition, with the world renowned Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D., she completed the Death and Grief Studies Certification Program. Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D. is an internationally noted author, educator and grief counselor. 

Robin founded the first and only aftercare bereavement program in Butler County entitled "Someone's Caring". This program offers assistance to the community as well as those who have been served at the funeral home after the death of a loved one. Robin has a real desire to help people and to meet their needs at the most difficult time in their lives. 

Robin is a licensed insurance agent representing Forethought Life Insurance Company and Columbian Life Insurance Company.

Robin also takes pleasure in being an accomplished equestrian and shows her Arabian horses on a regional and national level. She is also a musician and she plays in the community hand bell choir and she enjoys playing the flute in her church. 

Robin also received the "Butler County Samaritan of the Year Award" in 2001. This was sponsored and given by the Samaritan Counseling Center. She was nominated by the Someone's Caring Parent Grief Support Group.


Ronald L. Sloniger, licensed funeral director, became affiliated with the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. in 1966 following graduation from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Chicago, Illinois. 

He is a native of Dayton, PA where he graduated from Dayton Joint High School. He attended Wright College of Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Worsham College in 1966. 

Active in his community, he is a member of Community Alliance Church, The Butler Gideons and various athletic and outdoor clubs. He was a former board member of the Butler County Symphony Association and a former member of the Butler Lion's Club. 

He is married to Saundra J. (Sherry) Sloniger. They are the proud parents of Melissa Seipp, Melinda Moran and Angela Kappler, and the proud grandparents of four grandsons and two granddaughters.
