Our Staff 

Gerard W. “Jerry” Kaczmarczyk is a 1979 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating with honors. He also attended Penn State University. After working in Ashtabula, Ohio and Meadville, Pennsylvania he joined the staff of Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. as a funeral director in 1985. 

He is a member of Victory Lodge #694 F&AM, and American Legion Post #117 Butler, Pennsylvania. 

He is an avid animal lover and he cares for three cats. 

Jerry loves do-it yourself projects. The hobbies he enjoys are vintage car restoration and motorcycle touring. 



M. Bruce Vasey, licensed funeral director, is a 1978 graduate of A.C. Valley High School in Foxburg, PA, and a 1981 graduate from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He came to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home in 1982.

He is a member of Butler Rotary Club where he is a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship award. He is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and is active in American Legion Post #778, Lyndora, Pennsylvania.

He makes his home in Butler with his wife Patti J. (Grafton) Vasey, son Zachary, daughter Olivia, cat Lucy and dog Roxy.

Bruce and his family enjoy getting away on vacations and going to sporting events in the Butler and Pittsburgh area.
 

Sandra Protzman-Cook, graphic artist/DVD producer, graduated from college in 1982 with degrees in visual communication/advertising, psychology and teaching. She has taught at Butler County Community College since 1983 in the Business and Community Education department. Sandy also has her own studio in which she creates framed calligraphy pieces, invitations, logo design, point of sale display, 3-D theme centerpieces and large-scale theatre style props.

Sandy has earned the title of master calligrapher, a member of the Calligraphy Guild of Pittsburgh at Carnegie Mellon University, the Associated Artists of Butler County and the International Society of Scribes. Her interests are varied from painting and jewelry making to silk ribbon embroidery and silk screening to biking and gardening.

Sandy married Kenneth Cook in 1986 and they have one fabulous 17-year-old daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Protzman Cook and a very precocious Miniature Schnauzer named Jenevieve. They are members of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, where Sarah also had attended school during kindergarten thru 8th grade. Sarah is now a Junior at the Butler Senior High School and the Butler Golden Tornado Marching Band. Sandy is very active in the school and the church volunteering her time and her talent. She and Ken are also chaperones for the band.
